Position Summary
We are seeking a Demand Planning Specialist to join our growing team! As Demand Planning Specialist, you will collaborate cross-functionally with various departments to optimize supply chain efficiency, maintain accurate inventory levels, and forecast product demand.

Duties and Responsibilities
Primary
Demand Planning
- Collaborate with Production and Supply Chain teams to ensure flow of inventory that guarantees optimum stock levels and meets turnover goals.
- Ensure that customers’ orders are fulfilled on time and with the correct quantities of products.
- Work with Supply Chain team to adjust inventory plans and resolve stock-outs or overstock situations.
- Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts using historical sales data, market trends, and statistical forecasting methods.
- Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activities to identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Collaborate with Partnership and Production teams to gather input and align on demand forecasts.
- Participate in the S&OP process to ensure alignment between forecasted demand and production/supply plans.
- Collaborate with Partnership both annually and quarterly to forecast levels and build models that predict demand and provide demand insights to support business strategies and decision-making.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to demand forecasting accuracy, inventory levels, and customer service.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the demand planning process.
- Prepare and present reports and presentations to management on demand forecasts and accuracy, inventory levels, and supply chain performance.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in demand planning and supply chain management.
- Proactively seek ways to reduce waste, improve lead times, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Key participant into cross-functional development of forecast improvement processes, tools, and systems.
Purchasing
- Provide support to Supply Chain Director to plan and execute all purchasing processes.
- Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers.
- Stay current with internal and external factors impacting procurement function.
- Execute the organization’s purchasing policies and procedures, standards and strategies.
- Propose alternative arrangement in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the organization.
- Recommend cost-savings alternatives for Director of Supply Chain’s review and or considerations.
- Execute and process claims against suppliers. Ensure the accurate processing of all debits or damages, chargebacks and transfers based on Company policies and procedures.
- Source potential suppliers and maintain strong relationship with current ones.
- Analyze and evaluate vendors and/or suppliers’ performance to improve purchasing process.
- Identifies varied sources of materials and evaluates standards for new products to assist team requirements and achieve material needs of the organization.
- Sustains continuous contact with vendors by maintaining comprehensive descriptions of products and current prices.
- Assist supervisor in acquiring knowledge of purchasing methods, market factors, reporting procedures, departmental procedures, regulatory needs and accounting principles to facilitate purchasing operations.
- Generate, review and track purchase order status for all materials.
- Oversees material flow to support planning production schedules based on inventory levels.
General
- Support the maintenance of ERP, worksheets, lists, and databases.
- Follow all applicable standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain safety, quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Additional
- Documentation support when necessary
- Year end inventory counts (October – November) fiscal counts are required.
- Participate in and further the Company’s health & safety program.
- Report equipment malfunctions immediately.
- Report quality deficiencies immediately.
- Other related duties.
Qualifications
Knowledge
- Fluent in verbal and written English.
- 3 years of experience in demand planning, forecasting or a related field.
Assets
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Experience in the food, nutraceutical or pharmaceutical industries.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, economics, or related field.
Skills
- Willingness to learn.
- Basic proficiency in mathematics (adding, subtracting, multiplying & dividing).
- Basic proficiency in using computers.
- Basic proficiency in using the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and draw meaning conclusions.
- Proficiency in statistical forecasting methods and tools.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle) and demand planning software.
- Strong time management.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
Abilities
- Lift a minimum of 10 kg.
- Work independently on assigned duties.
- Balance a variety of competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
Health
- Must be in good health with no communicable diseases or dust allergies.
- Must wear approved non-slip safety shoes.
- Must follow appropriate gowning procedure before going into production area.
- Follow health & safety regulations.
